Muzoon Almellehan
مزون المليحان
Also known as: The Malala of Syria
Biography
Muzoon Almellehan is a Syrian refugee and education advocate who became known as 'the Malala of Syria.' She fled Syria with her family in 2013 and spent nearly three years in refugee camps in Jordan, where she campaigned tirelessly for girls' education — going tent by tent to convince parents to keep their daughters in school instead of marrying them off. She was resettled in the UK in 2015 and became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2017, the youngest ever to hold the title, alongside Malala Yousafzai.
