Patriarch John X Yazigi

البطريرك يوحنا العاشر يازجي

Also known as: John X • Youhanna X • Patriarch of Antioch

Biography

John X Yazigi became Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East in December 2012, weeks before his brother Metropolitan Paul Yazigi and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Yohanna Ibrahim were abducted by gunmen near Aleppo on April 22, 2013. Their driver was killed. Neither bishop has been seen or confirmed alive since. Patriarch John X has spent more than a decade demanding answers from governments, armed groups, and mediators — none of whom have produced them. The abduction is one of the most unresolved disappearances of the Syrian war.
