Biography

Suheir al-Atassi is a prominent Syrian feminist and civil society activist from a historic political family (her father Jamal al-Atassi was a major opposition figure). She was a founding member of the Jamal al-Atassi Forum for Democratic Dialogue, arrested multiple times by the Assad regime, and became one of the Syrian opposition's most visible women leaders after 2011, serving as vice president of the Syrian National Coalition.
